Ouro Preto is located 50 miles southeast of Belo Horizonte, it can be reached via a picturesque highway from Belo Horizonte. Driving time is about 2 hours. Although the Minas Gerais State has a number of interesting destinations this is undoubtedly the most inviting. Rich in its colonial past, Ouro Preto has the most dramatic and well preserved architecture of the area. From a point above the city the visitor will marvel at its many treasures. Declared a UNESCO World Cultural Site we recommend at least a three day stay to take full advantage of what this city has to offer.
