Excursions in IguassuЭкскурсии в Игуасу, штат Парана См. Фото-галерею Routes of excursions in Iguassu Macuco Safari The big adventure begins at the Macuco Safari entrance gates, located at kilometer 25 of the Cataratas Highway inside the Iguassu National Park, with embarkation in open jeep-towed wagons that permit an unobstructed view of the scenery along the trail. During the stretch of three kilometers through the jungle, multi-lingual guides point out examples of the flora and fauna of the Park. Orchids, palm trees, bromeliads, centenarian trees, as well as wild animals that occasionally cross the trail are pointed out by the guides. The Bird Park Set in 4.8 hectares (12 acres) of lush subtropical rainforest, the Bird Park offers the best bird-watching in Iguaçu. A large number of birds are in huge walk-through aviaries, some 24m (80 ft.) tall and at least 60m (200 ft.) long, allowing visitors to watch the birds interact as they go about their daily routines. Highlights include the toucans and multicolored tanagers as well as a Pantanal aviary with roseate spoonbills, herons, and egrets. Signage is in English. The best time to visit is early in the day when the birds are most active. Allow 2 hours. Itaipu Situated on the Paraná river, at Foz do Iguassu, Itaipu has become a worldwide reference for the use of river waters for power generation. Its turbines produce 25% of the power produced in Brazil and 95% of that produced in Paraguay. Synonymous with gigantic, its numbers are impressive. To give you an idea, the volume of concrete used to construct the plant would have built 210 stadiums as big as Maracanã, while the iron and steel utilized would have been sufficient to build the Eiffel Tower 380 times.
