Insólito Boutique Hotel - Búzios - Rio de Janeiro - BrazillÎòåëü Insólito Boutique Hotel, Buzi Ñì. Ôîòî-ãàëåðåþ There are also three bicycles which are available for use by the guests. Emanuelle Meeus de Clermont-Tonnerre has been an “art curator of decoration” at Insólito, which is shown in the exposition of design objects - in its majority, Brazilian – in the rooms and in the common areas of the hotel, like the living room with a Pigmento Ovo table and the wonderful rustic wooden sofas by Elma Chavez. One of the peculiarities is the recycled rubber carpets by Cecília Machado, made in cooperation with the inmates of Muzambinho and Nova Resende. Other objects that stand-out are the photos by Claudia Andujar, stickers by André Diniz and the young Brazilian designer Juliana Llussa. At Insólito restaurant, Brazilian products gain flavor and a French touch from chef Rocha, who has worked at 66 Bistro and Zozô (Rio), Trapiche Adelaide (Salvador) and La Palette (Campinas). This French-Brazilian cuisine focuses mainly on seafood and is open to the public, when reserved in advance. The restaurant has a large fresco painting by Dominique Jardy, inspired by Iemanjá, and the guests are welcomed by individual maítres at the table – small fish in bottles, who suggest the dish of the day. The Tupinambás Indians had occupied the area which today is known as Búzios since the 16th century, where they fished, hunted and grew manioc and corn. They had relations with pirates and French smugglers, who would hide out in the area to smuggle noble wood, mainly Pau-Brasil (Caesalpinia echinata), and sell slaves. During the 17th century, the village was invaded by the French and the English. It was a pirate base, a Pau-Brasil smuggling point and the drop-off point of African slaves. At Manguinhos beach you can still see the brick wharf built by the slaves. Later on, the French were expelled by the Portuguese, after bloody disputes which significantly lowered the indigenous population. In the 17th century, Búzios was a small fishing village with 20 houses. At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, Búzios began to receive Portuguese immigrants who worked together with the local fishermen, teaching them new fishing techniques. In this century, the “Armação das Baleias de Búzios” was also created, which consisted of a structure to capture whales at certain times of the year, which gave way to the name “balenário”. Búzios was revealed to the world in the 1960’s, when Brigitte Bardot came for a visit. It is located 160km from Rio de Janeiro and 529km from São Paulo, in the Lagos Fluminense region. This Brazilian Saint-Tropez – by influence of the actress and the international jet-set, in the summertime, with a high rate of people staying for good – is an 8km peninsula with 23 beaches with a mixture of hot and crystal clear water to the west, and cold, open sea with inlets, to the east. The wind is favorable for water sports such as sailing, kite surfing, yachting and free flight. The vegetation, which is very similar to the Atlantic forest, completes the scenery. Occupied by the Indians in the time of the Discovery of Brazil, today there are more than 50 nationalities among its 24,560 inhabitants. Búzios still preserves the charm of the old fishing village and the architecture which has clay roofs and rustic wood as the main characteristics, without losing the sophistication of the fashion commerce, gastronomy and night clubs in Rua das Pedras. Among the principle beaches there are, Geribá, Jõao Fernandes, Rasa, Manguinhos, Tartaruga, Azeda, Brava, Olho-de-Boi and Ferradura, where Insólito Boutique Hotel is located. There are many reasons to come to Búzios: the beauty of the 26 beaches in the peninsula, the charm of the old fishing village, the regional and international restaurants, the golf course, the famous boutiques which are open until dawn on Rua das Pedras, the nightlife, the Film Festival, the architecture with the clay roofs and rustic wood, the ocean with olympic winds and the uncultivated nature, reminiscent of the Atlantic forest.
