Фото-галерею Ubatuba begins to appear in the History of Brazil with the name of village of Iperoig, in the reports of the missionary José de Anchieta to a Provincial of the Order of the Jesuits, counting on the existent conflicts in the region. The Indians Indian were the first inhabitants of the region, they were excellent canoeists, till, with the arrival of the Portugueses and Frenchmen who tried to dominate them and to keep the land, the Brazilian Indian ones they allied to the Portugueses and the biggest enemies of the Indian were made. The Indians of Iperoig got organized to defend the land, forming the Confederation of the Tamoios and started to face the foreigners (Portugueses and Frenchmen). In 1563, the Jesuits Manuel da Nóbrega and José de Anchieta left from Saint Raven bound for Village of Iperoig with mission to pacify the Indians. Since United Tamoios distrusted the word of the Portugueses, Anchieta was imprisoned during several months, while Nóbrega returned to Saint Raven to finish the Peace treaty that started to appear in the History of Brazil like "The peace of Iperoig" (First Peace treaty been based on Americas). From 1800 to 1890 Ubatuba it had the privilege of being a rich city, for three times the tax revenue of the local authority surpassed that of Sao Paulo, the reason went to the reopening of Oporto. The exporting rich men reactivated his business again, in this period there were built the most imposing buildings, houses of commerce, offices of export and luxurious residences, showing the theater up, where at present the Forum of the Judicature works. Ubatuba was reaching the economical apogee and the euphoria arrived when point of the exporters was planning a railroad to modernize Oporto and to do competition with Saints and Rio de Janeiro and to attend the farmers of the South of Mines. But the pressure of the contestants of other Ports did so that the government decreed the first moratorium of Brazil, to obstruct the construction of the railroad. ![]() | |||
